El Centro cultural center
Greek Interior Awards 2021 | Silver
The full restoration of the listed building in Kifisia Grove transforms a 1926 summer residence into El Centro, a vibrant cultural hub dedicated to Spanish language and culture. The design infuses the space with a Mediterranean and Latin spirit, expressed through color, light, and sensory richness. At its core lies a striking sculptural staircase inspired by a Spanish guitar, acting as both the functional and symbolic axis of the building, connecting reception, classrooms, and the children’s library.
The project carefully balances preservation with bold architectural intervention, overcoming structural challenges to create a cohesive and expressive environment. From the Andalusian-inspired garden to the playful attic space referencing Joan Miró, the building unfolds as an immersive cultural experience—merging heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary design into a dynamic meeting point for the Spanish-speaking community.
