Cervantes Institute of Greece

Instituto Cervantes in Athens is part of a global non-profit network dedicated to promoting the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures through education and cultural events. Housed in a historic building with origins tracing back to 1930—once serving as the Spanish Embassy—the structure has evolved through various institutional roles before becoming the Cervantes Institute in 1991.

Its recent restoration carefully preserved the building’s architectural identity while adapting it to contemporary needs, revealing original materials and integrating modern elements such as a library, educational spaces, offices, and a discreet glass extension. The project successfully balances heritage and innovation, revitalizing a protected monument into a dynamic cultural and educational hub.
